Lenten Schedule
There are several special Lenten opportunities planned with our hosts, First Congregational Church. We would love to have you come and worship with us:
- Ash Wednesday, February 18, 7 pm – Short service observing the beginning of Lent. Ashes will be dispensed to all who wish to receive them. In the Phoenix worship space.
- Taize Prayer Service, Thursday, March 5, 6 pm – Contemplative service of prayer and chanting in the Phoenix worship space.
- Taize Prayer Service, Thursday, March 19, 6 pm – Contemplative service of prayer and chanting in the Phoenix worship space.
- Good Friday Worship, April 3, 8 pm – We cannot afford to ignore the darkness in our world. This service recounts the tragedy of the last hours of Jesus’ life through scripture and music while modern readings remind us of the evil and despair that still exists in our world today. This evening we sit with the darkness, yearning for the light that returns Easter morning. In the chapel.
- Easter Sunrise Worship and Breakfast, April 5, 7 am – Short outdoor service in Bronson Park followed by potluck breakfast. Sign up to bring a dish.
- Easter Worship – Christ is Risen! Even death can’t keep the love of God down! Come and celebrate!
- First Congregational Church: 10 am service
- Phoenix Community Church: 6 pm service
Please join us for Sunday worship in our space at 345 W. Michigan Avenue in the First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo building. Because the front door has to be monitored, please arrive before our 6 pm start time. If you are late, ring the “night-time” door bell and wait patiently while someone comes to let you in. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but it can’t be helped.

Upcoming Worship Services @ 6pm:
February 1: “Blessed are the Just”
February 8: “Salt and Light”
February 15: “In God’s Presence”
February 22: “Facing Your Doubts”
You are invited to worship with us every Sunday at 6 pm. Either join us in person (our address is below) or online via Zoom. If you would like the Zoom connection info, please contact the church office. Thank you!
So that we can keep each other healthy in this age of Covid:
- If you feel sick, please join us online via Zoom instead of in-person.
- We encourage everyone to be up to date on their Covid and Flu vaccinations.
- We encourage everyone to use their own best judgement on whether to wear a mask or not.
- Please respect others’ personal space. If you want to hug, please ask permission. Don’t assume the other person is comfortable with hugs even if you know they’ve been vaccinated or if you’ve hugged them in the past.
